We use 3 4 x 6 lags and we use 16 of them in to the glulam headers. The steel angle is bolted to the wood header which should be. We usually have around 60 of brick masonry above them being supported we are being questioned if our lintels are thick enough. The greater the space of the opening the larger the lintel may need to be in overall dimensions in order to adequately bear the weight it is holding.
